Carbon footprint is 52.42 % lower than the original reinforced concrete project! This is the result of he analysis prepared by the consulting company Grinity. "A comparison of the carbon footprint of the original reinforced concrete project and the implemented design of Timber Praha hybrid timber buildings clearly shows the ecological benefits of wood as a sustainable building material. The switch from reinforced concrete to timber construction has meant a significant reduction in overall carbon dioxide emissions. The total combined CO2 emissions, i.e. the embodied carbon emissions produced by the building materials and construction during all phases of the building plus the CO2 emissions generated during the assumed 50 years of operation of the buildings, are more than 52 % lower than the original reinforced concrete design," comments Tomáš Kurka, Senior Cost Manager at UBM Development Czechia.
