TV Nova recently broadcastes a report that includes footage of our Timber Prague project (https://lnkd.in/e6iPksz9), the first multi-storey timber buildings in the history of the capital. The story was filmed on location in the Prague - Řeporyje municipality by a TV Nova crew led by reporter Kateřina Havelková. This ecological apartment buildings project with good energy will be completed this Summer
Among other things, the report states that timber buildings could make up up to a quarter of new buildings built in 2035, according to a new strategic document from the three relevant Czech ministries. Up to 30 % of the timber harvested in the Czech Republic is now exported abroad. The Czech Ministry of Agriculture wants to change this so that wood is used more efficiently and processed more in the Czech Republic. For example specifically for the construction sector.
The share of timber buildings in the Czech Republic currently reaches about 15 %. However, it consists mainly of family houses. In developed European countries such as Germany, Austria and the Nordic countries, however, it is much higher. As the report notes, the Czech ministries of agriculture, environment and industry and trade want to get to at least a 25 % share within 10 years.
The reasons are obvious: it is all about reducing the carbon footprint and the associated lower impacts of climate change. But it is also about a whole range of other factors from the speed of construction to the beneficial effect of wood indoors on the human psyche, etc.
